•International Mail Services
(1) Regular Mail
The maximum weight for regular mail is 2 kg.  Postage charges are determined by the weight of the letter and the country of destination.

(2) Aerogramme
Special, internationally recognized aerogrammes can be purchased for \90 at your local post office.  Desiged as an airmail letter sheet that folds to become its own pre-stamped enveloped, they do not require an envelope or stamp.  Note that nothing may be enclosed in an aerogramme.

(3) Post Cards
Postage is \70 for airmail anywhere in the world.  The standard size is the same as that of domestic post cards.

(4) Printed Matter
Printed matters such as periodicals, books, catalogues, direct mail, and business documents can be mailed up to 5kg in weight.  They should not be sealed in principle, but mail containing only books or booklets can be sealed completely.

(5) Small Packets
Small-sized materials (up to 2kg) can be sent more cheaply than EMS or small parcels.  "Zeikanhyoufu", or Green Label, available at the post office should be attached to your package even if your package does not contain taxed products.

(6) International Parcels
This is the regular way to send parcels overseas (up to 20kg, limitations vary according to countries).  There are three types: by air for the speed-oriented, by surface mail for the cost-oriented, and by Economy Air (SAL), which is both economical and fast.

(7) EMS
This is the fastest way to send mail including documents or materials (up to 30kg) overseas.  EMS is given top priority throughout the procedure from accepting to delivering.  Mail delivery can be tracked by the computer system.

Mailing Tips
Regular mail and small parcel methods include surface mail, SAL (Economy Air) and air mail.  Surface mail is the least expensive; air mail is the fastest method.  SAL is faster than surface mail but costs less than air mail.  To send an item by surface mail, write "SURFACE" on the letter or package.  To send by SAL, affix a SAL sticker or write "SAL" near the address.  To send by air mail, write "PAR AVION" or "AIR MAIL" the post office will affix "SAL" or "PAR AVION" stickers upon request.
