You must file a birth registration within 14 days of the birth, either at the place of birth or at the municipality where the person filing the notification resides.

① Before visiting the Immigration Bureau to handle procedures, please first file the birth registration at your nearest municipal office.

② To obtain a status of residence for your newborn child, you must submit an application to the Immigration Bureau within 30 days of the child’s birth.

③ Also notify the child’s home country (via its embassy or consulate) of the birth.
