If an employee enrolled in a company health insurance plan takes leave before or after childbirth and does not receive a salary during that period, they can apply to receive a “Childbirth Allowance” from their health insurance provider (subject to specific time limits).

*Note: This benefit does not apply in cases where a dependent family member gives birth.

(i.e. Only the person actually giving birth can apply for this benefit from her employer)

Additionally, this system is not available under the National Health Insurance plan.
