Even part-time or casual workers can take childcare or nursing care leave if they meet certain conditions.
[Childcare Leave]
Leave taken by a worker, in principle, to care for a child under the age of one.
Eligibility conditions:
Must have been employed by the same company for at least one year; and there should be no clear mention that the current employment contract will expire and not be renewed before the child reaches the age of one year and six months.
[Nursing Care Leave]
Leave taken by a worker to care for a family member requiring nursing care. Leave may be taken in up to three separate periods, for a total of up to 93 days per family member.
Eligibility conditions:
Must have been employed by the same company for at least one year. Also, there should be no clear mention that the current employment contract will expire and not be renewed within six months following the 93rd day after the scheduled start date of the leave.
